WREATHS were laid at the Prisoner of War memorial in Camden High Street on Remembrance Sunday.

The usual gathering could not happen due to the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions but a socially-distanced service was held to remember those who lost their lives while being held captive during the Second World War.

The memorial near Mornington Crescent station was paid for by donations from New Journal readers due to the lack of monuments in the UK honouring those who were held in the camps in tortuous conditions.

Too often forgotten, they are now remembered every year here.
