An open letter to the Prime Minister Boris Johnson

• CONGRATULATIONS on your appointment as prime minister, and I wish you a long tenure and increased confidence in the country.

I was pleased to see that one of your first statements following your appointment was that you sought to conscript 20,000 new police officers.

Hampstead police station, on Rosslyn Hill, was closed six years ago, with the nearest one, in Kentish Town, being two miles away.

During this time, the instances of street crime have increased and police are now far less visible in this area. The police station remains empty and unsold.

Please could one of the first actions be to take the building off the market, and to retain it for use by the police, the purpose for which it was built. This would be hugely appreciated by all residents of the area.
