They performed in the borough’s signature Caribbean green?

CAMDEN’S official borough presence at the London New Year’s Parade was led by Regent Royal Twirlers, a group associated with the UK Twirling Majorettes Association (UKTMA).
Based on the Regent’s Park Estate and led by Kelly Strong, the twirlers’ trainer, children and young people had been practising for months after school at the Dick Collins TRA hall to perfect their skills.
The three generations of performers on the day were watched by hundreds of thousands of spectators on the streets of the capital as well as millions at home watching on television.
Performing in the borough’s signature Caribbean green to symbolise renewal and collective pride, their choreography was staged around the idea of fluid communities and a red Routemaster 24 bus, the first bus route in London, which was used as a moving prop to anchor the performance in London’s cultural identity.
