SHAUN Wallace, a star of the hit ITV show The Chase, will once again host the annual quiz in support of the Camden New Journal Christmas hamper appeal.

The standout fixture of the festive calendar is booked at the Sheephaven Bay from 8pm on December 12. Raffle tickets are already on sale with a host of top prizes expected as usual on the night that helps us raise thousands of pounds for those most in need in Camden.

“The Chaser is really looking forward to it,” said the Sheep’s legendary landlord Pat Logue. “It’s one of his favourite nights of the year.”

Every year the New Journal raises thousands of pounds to buy hampers chock-full of festive goodies for those lonely or isolated at Christmas time. It’s a simple premise: We raise as much money as possible, and then use the funds to send out the hampers to the elderly stuck on their own, or families going through particular hardship.

Readers can help by raising funds themselves or suggesting to us neighbours who might like to have one delivered to them for free. We know this is a hard time financially for many of us, and we would not ask if we did not feel our appeal was such an important part of what we do as a newspaper.

This is thought to be the 27th year that Mr Logue has run a pub quiz in support of our appeal, and we estimate over the years his fun-packed nights have raised more than £100,000 for the cause.

Thank you Pat!
