TOP potters from across Camden and Islington joined forces on Sunday to help turn around the fortunes of the Central London pool team at the King’s Cross Hurricane Rooms, writes Steve Barnett.

Having suffered a stuttering start in the English Blackball County League, new recruit James Mason led the capital’s ‘A’ team a convincing 22-14 victory over rivals Cambridge.

The ‘B’ team also secured an all-important win over their East Anglia rivals as they narrowly won their 36 frame affair 19-17.

Despite suffering an agonising 15-13 defeat, the Central London ladies team also showed massive improvement in their game against Cambridge. Kentish Town’s Francesca Egan (pictured above) certainly had plenty to be proud of as she won three of her four frames, while Lorraine Tozer also pocketed two wins.

The county squad are next in action on October 19 when East Sussex visit their home tables in King’s Cross, with both teams vying for a place in the National finals, which are held at Selsey in March.
