1KARATE kids Luan and Liam Veras hit the heights yet again after medalling at the World Shotokan Championships in Turkey.

Competing in the kumite category, a form of fighting, Luan, 8, won a silver and a bronze medal as he battled against opponents from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Tunisia and Russia.
Younger brother Liam, 7, also returned home to a hero’s welcome after winning two bronze medals in his age category.

Father Sensei Raphael Veras who regularly teaches karate in Camden and Islington, couldn’t have been any prouder of his boys.

“They both displayed maturity beyond their years,” he said. “Especially as they were competing at this level for the first time and had to deal with the pressure of being the only two fighters representing England.”
