Troubling questions remain about the O2 Centre demolition and development
Thursday, 27th July 2023
• I AM not surprised that – in spite of sizable objections from nearby residents – Michael Gove approved the proposed O2 Centre demolition and new development, (Michael Gove allows O2 Centre redevelopment to pass, July 20).
The Conservatives are meant to be on the side of big profit developers; never mind the masses who not only do not benefit but substantially lose out.
I am, however, deeply saddened by Camden’s Labour councillors ignoring residents’ wishes and ushering in a profitable project for developers while leaving residents without their much used and much appreciated facilities, offering promises which are unlikely and impractical.
And there is also the immense waste: pulling down a massive development which was built only 20 years ago.
Will Prince, the sole Labour councillor who opposed the redevelopment, subsequently resigned from his councillor slot… leaving some troubling questions.
