PLAYERS representing Camden’s district football team are one game away from glory after seeing off neighbouring rivals Islington to book their place in the final of the Kay Trophy
The Year 6 squad overcame the treacherous weather and tough opposition to seal a thrilling 3-2 victory at the
St Aloysius Playing Fields on Wednesday.
Winger Joel Chileshe, who goes to St Patrick’s Primary School in Kentish Town, and striker Trea Coyle, who goes to Gospel Oak School, both scored to give Camden a 2-0 lead.
Islington pulled a goal back but a neat finish from Rosary schoolboy Bailey Johnson restored the two-goal cushion. Again Islington reduced the deficit, but Camden held out for a memorable win.
With a date for the final yet to be set, Sports Development Officer Abul Koyar, who manages the team with Shaun Taylor, said: “All the players deserve a lot of credit. From the first whistle the whole team was up for it. They fully deserve their place in the final and if they show the same fight and work ethic as they did against Islington we’ll come away with the trophy.”
