THERE were plenty of cheers – and even more trophies – as the curtain came down on the 15th successful season of the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League on Saturday.

Among the biggest winners on finals day were the triumphant team from Kentish Town FC, who finished six-points ahead of their closest rivals to win the Under-11s ‘A’ division.

But the boys weren’t content to win the title in just one age group – also winning the Under-12s ‘B’ division after defying their years and playing up an age group.

Among their stand-out players was goalkeeper Arlo Doherty with Camden mayor Lazzaro Pietragnoli (pictured above). Arlo conceded just eight goals in both divisions combined.

Another hero on the day came in the shape of hotshot striker Jean-Baptiste Baigneres, who scored a hat-trick as Regent’s Park Lions beat AFC 3-0 to win the Under-13s League Cup. The 13-year-old couldn’t hide his delight as he was presented with the match ball by Nick Biddle from Royal Parks, who help run and support the youth league.

West End FC lit-up the Under-11s League Cup as they battled it out with five other teams for the right to lift the prestigious trophy.

One of the goals of the day saw Freddie Geragthy skip past five players before beating the keeper with aplomb to earn his side a vital 1-0 win in the group stages. West End boasted not one, but a whole team of heroes, as they beat Mallinson 1-0 in the final to get their hands on the cup.

Keeper David Langford certainly played his part as he saved a penalty, while Luc Carrier Sanders scored the winner to spark wild scenes of celebration.

There were also top awards for youth leaders (above, from left) Enayet Rahman, 19, Bradley Mills-Faulkner, 12, and Nathan Toutouyoutte, 18, who help to run match days every Saturday, including the Under-8s division which proved a big hit.
