TALENTED trio Sofia Sami, Yvette Dowland and Zada Dzihan were all smiles this week after being named Camden School for Girls’ Sportswomen-of-the-Year.
The three 13-year-olds were recognised for their “invaluable contribution towards PE and sport” after taking part in 35 competitions each over the academic year, helping their secondary school in Sandall Road, retain the CSSF Camden Shield.
The school’s head of PE, Sian Cieslar, said: “The fact that the girls have been able to juggle their social lives, school work, and take part in various sporting competitions every week is amazing. They are role models for older and younger pupils within the school and we hope that others will aspire to be like them. Sportswoman-of-the-Year has to be the ultimate prize awarded at school, and they are very much deserving winners.”
Sofia, Yvette and Zada have helped CSG win the Camden Shield two years in a row, and will be looking to sign up for even more competitions this year as the school looks to seal a hat-trick of shield successes.
