Tree planting can help cut pollution

• BEING in Asia at the moment and seeing the results of pollution caused by factories and cars, got me reading more about it and how to help solve it.
China has a huge tree-planting programme and it’s certainly helping.
The school traffic and construction vehicles, especially in Belsize rather than Hampstead, has the pollution sink in the hollow. As long as the right trees are chosen so roots don’t affect buildings, they grow down rather than out, this will be OK.
Boris Johnson had a good tree-planting programme a few years ago which has benefited my road and I am sure that there are many roads in NW3 we could identify where they not only help with absorbing pollution but also stop folk parking on the pavements.
As the election approaches I hope this is something Claire-Louise Leyland and Tulip Siddiq address.
