THE trailer has been released for a new movie starring Dame Maggie Smith based on Alan Bennett's memoir about a woman who lived in a van outside his home.

Camden Town became the film set for The Lady In The Van, which is set for release in November. Many scenes were filmed last year outside the playwright's former home in Gloucester Crescent.

Mr Bennett wrote the book after "Miss Shepherd" an eccentric pensioner, took refuge in his front garden for 15 years, living in a parked van.

Dame Maggie is in the starring role which she has previously played in a stage adaptation in the West End, with Alex Jennings taking the part of Mr Bennett, who still lives nearby in Primrose Hill.
