Traders do not back the Queen’s Crescent traffic scheme

‘Scrap the Queen’s Crescent Motor Traffic Scheme’ poster
• COUNCILLOR Adam Harrison states in the CNJ of July 1 that residents back plans “to make walking on Queen’s Crescent easier…”, (Food bank says it has lost out on donations due to Queen’s Crescent road changes).
The crescent surface is potholed. I almost fell over last Saturday. He could start there by doing some repairs.
Has Cllr Harrison actually visited the area recently and spoken to residents? Certainly traders do not back his plans as the poster (above) shows.
We now have yet two more sets of consultants, Make Good and Sustrans joining the long line of ones like the Decorators, Hemmingway, Future Gov, East, Sortition and PJA.
I asked the leading council officer for a definitive list and costs but got no response; obviously secret like the meetings of the secret assembly which allegedly endorsed the closure scheme.
Cllr Harrison might like to talk to the 90-year-old resident, as I have, who is blocked in her flat by the closures. Or to the shopkeepers who report they have been fined and lost income.
Better still he can talk to the food bank recipients who are worried that their only source of meals may have to end.
The latest “consultation” is, of course, online – effectively excluding a goodly proportion of potential respondents.
We have asked the council for paper copies of the questions and an assurance that when we send completed copies they will be posted online. We did this a week ago but no copies yet.
We understand that on Thursday the aforementioned consultants “Make Good” will be in the crescent to see how they might “mend” the disaster we are facing.
What shocked me most, and I have lived in the area for well over four decades, was the comment of a very elderly crescent resident, previously a very loyal Labour Party member, who said “They treat us like s**t”.
