Traders are forcing people off the pavements!

• IT has been heartening to see the, now fully staffed, police team for Camden Town working hand in hand with the Camden Town Unlimited wardens recently.
We must not kid ourselves that the scourge of drug dealers on our streets will end any time soon. And if we cease our efforts we know they will be back with a vengeance. But being able to walk the area without seeing quite so many familiar faces, eager to push their wares, is a great pleasure.
What we now need to see is an end to the out-of-control encroachment of haphazard traders spreading way beyond the footprint of the shops onto the High Street, often forcing pedestrians and pushchairs onto the highway and into the path of passing cars.
I know that the CTU wardens and police officers stand ready to assist council officers in this task. And hope that a period of regular enforcement and fines will make this blight on our town centre unworkable for the perpetrators and for the landlords who rent out these shoddy spaces.
