YOUNG footballers from across Camden and Islington can put their skills to the ultimate test this weekend by signing up for a tough new challenge.

Coaches behind 2TR Football, a two-touch competition, are calling on youth sides to join them at the Powerleague in Royal Route, next to Wembley Stadium, on Saturday for the chance to scoop honours and cash prizes.

Squads of up to eight players can take part in the four-a-side tourney, open to under-11s, under-14s and under-18s sides.

Organiser Charlie Browne, who set up the competition with Michael Lyle, said coaches and players only had to look at the current world and European champions to see the benefits two-touch football offers.

“It’s a game that will change the way young people think about football and how they train. It’s about awareness, how to shield the ball and improving ball control and skill. Anyone who wants to see how effective it can be just needs to watch Spain – they’re the masters of pass-and-move-football.”

Teams interested in signing up (entrance fee £30) for Saturday’s action should call Charlie on 07930 184847 or email info@2trfootball.co.uk
