THE girls from Gospel Oak Primary School are preparing to tackle the best football teams the south and south east of England can pitch up after being crowned Inner London champions.
Sharp-shooter Tierney Gallagher, 11, scored the winner in the final as the glorious Gospel Oak beat Tower Hamlets 1-0 to lift the ESFA Presidents Cup.
Captain Olivia Morgan-Joy, 11, said the whole team felt “proud” after returning to their school in Mansfield Road with the prestigious trophy.
“It’s a great feeling. We worked hard as a team and really encouraged each other on the pitch.”
PE teacher and manager Jef Gooding said: “I’m really proud of the girls.
“This is the highest level competition Gospel Oak have ever won – and we have won quite a lot over the 25 years I’ve been here.”
