THERE’S a new name on the winners’ trophy of the girls’ Secondary Schools Football Championships following three weeks of pulsating action at the Cantelowes Sports Pitch just off Camden Road.
The side from La Sainte Union (above) in Highgate are the new league champions after finishing four points ahead of their closest rivals. The Year 7 team took the title in style as they won eight of nine games, scoring 23 goals and conceding just six.
Jointly organised by the Camden School Sports Federation and Camden Sports Development, LSU toppled nine other teams to claim their crown – including last season’s winners, the Acland Burghley ‘B’ team.
It hasn’t been all bad news for the Tufnell Park-based Acland Burghley, however, after their Year 9 side won their competition earlier this month.
