BELOVED mascot Sydney turned her nose up at the usual stroll with owner and club Senior Ben Pochee on Sunday.

But she still had plenty to wag her tail about after the Highgate Harriers road relay team put in a strong showing at the United Kingdom Young Adherents Championships at Sutton Park.

Boys’ Under-15s trio Terry Fawden, James Millet and Alex Machin-Paley all put in lung-busting runs to drive Highgate to 11th place out of 46 clubs.

In the opening leg of the 3.86km course, Fawden was the 13th fastest runner at the meeting when he finished in 12 mins, 50 secs to leave Highgate in fifth place overall.

James Millett clocked a competitive 14.26 in the second leg to leave the club in 15th place, before Machin-Paley took over and ran 13.36 to earn an 11th place overall. Their effort saw Highgate finish ahead of some top clubs like Sale Manchester, Holmfirth and Coventry Godiva.
