Top awards for borough’s young stars
Athletes, coaches and volunteers are honoured at glitzy ceremony

THE borough’s young sports stars, coaches and volunteers have been honoured at a glitzy awards ceremony in King’s Cross.

Judo team win London Youth Games Outstanding Team Management award
The Vision Hall bash recognised Team Camden’s efforts during the 49th edition of the London Youth Games, the School Games and the ParaGames, which saw more than 500 budding athletes get the chance to represent their borough.

Jermaine McQueen was named Volunteer of the Year for his efforts managing the boys’ basketball team at this year’s Youth Games
The celebration also acknowledged a further 1,500 youngsters who competed in borough-wide school competitions over the past 12 months.

Christ Church Primary in Hampstead are the new Camden Active Schools Single School Entry champs
Among the triumphant talents were Layla Zabci and Georgia Surtees, who shared the London Youth Games Outstanding Girls’ Award following their gold medal-winning exploits in their respective judo and BMX events.

Josh Zobel was named Camden’s Outstanding Boy at the London Youth Games after successfully defending his judo title, while the London Youth Games Outstanding Team Management Award went to Kelly Alexander from Mike’s Judo Club.

The London Youth Games Outstanding Para Boys’ Team Award went to the athletics squad, who scooped 13 individual medals and an overall team bronze
Highgate Harriers Florence Phillips, Anouk Trang-Hespel and Anna Murray collected the London Youth Games Outstanding Girls’ Team Award on behalf of the cross-country runners who earned Camden’s highest-placing in the girls’ team events with a ninth-place finish. The London Youth Games Outstanding Boys’ Team Award went to Camden’s athletics squad.
