To ignore consultations is not democracy

• WHEN the Conservative / Liberal Democrat coalition ran Camden Council I canvassed hard for Labour.

It was easy and rewarding as the feeling on the doorstep was that the coalition had said it was going to do one thing but were doing quite another.

Fast forward to now and the sense I get is that people perceive Labour in power in Camden as arrogant.

It’s one thing showing a lead on improving cycling safety in the borough (and I’m in favour), quite another to put out numerous consultations then ignore the results if they don’t go your way. That’s not democracy and I won’t vote for Labour here next time because of it!

Will someone please tell Cllr Adam Harrison that you can’t win elections by pleasing an interest group (the cycling lobby), a large number of whose members don’t even live in the borough.

Needless to say, don’t print my name or address as I don’t want to be thrown out of my party for voting for another.
