UNBEATEN ‘A’ Class made it three wins on the spin on Friday when they beat Belsize Youth in the Under-10s Division of the Camden and Islington Midweek Youth League.
Led by captain Harry Smith, the high-flying team is battling it out with the Heath Cougars and Westway at the top of the table.
So picking up three precious points against Belsize did them the world of good as goals from Maliki Bailey and Alex Smith netted them a 2-1 victory.
Maliki scored the goal of the game as he took on three Belsize players before unleashing a shot from just outside the box. Belsize equalised but Alex made sure the winning run continued for ‘A’ Class with a well-placed penalty.
CAMDEN & ISLINGTON MIDWEEK YOUTH LEAGUE
Under-8s Division
STRIKER Lucas Panayi earnt himself the player-of-the-match accolade on Saturday as he struck twice for Chapel Youth in a thrilling contest against Heath Cougars at Market Road.
The Cougars took an early lead but the clinical forward bagged a brace to turn the game around. In a masterclass of finishing the Heath responded in style as they took a 3-2 lead, but a well-taken goal from Jamie Connor denied them the win as Chapel fought back in a pulsating 3-3 draw.
Under-11s Division
GOALS from Dorian Krasniqi and Erin Tafarshiku helped the Heath earn a 2-1 victory against Regent’s Park on Friday.
Under-12s Division
TWO tremendous finishes saw the game between Isledon Wolves and St John’s Wood City end in a 1-1 draw.
After a goalless first half, Ruben Lourenco opened the scoring for Wolves when he added the finishing touches to a decisive five-man move.
But the Saints hit straight back with an even better goal as their striker struck an unstoppable dipping volley.
Goalkeeper Freddy Akguc played his part in helping Wolves earn a share of the spoils with two fantastic saves.
CHAPEL Youth came from a goal down to beat rivals Lyndhurst 3-1 on Friday in a lively contest at the artificial pitches.
Brian Boguski netted the equaliser, before leading scorer Max Tyson took his personal tally to 12 goals in the midweek league with a deadly double.
Alfie Lusardi was named Chapel’s player-of-the-match after pulling the strings in midfield.
The win continues an impressive run of form for Chapel after they beat First Academy 7-1 in their previous outing.
Tyson again led the goal charge with a hat-trick, while strike partner Tyler Peters chipped in with two goals.
Midfielders Boguski and Jamaine Mugenyi were also on target but by far the biggest cheer of the game was saved for defender Jonny English, who scored his first goal for the club in three years.
The London County Cup
RYAN FC set-up a mouth-watering quarter-final tie with cup-holders Waterloo after beating South London’s Forest Allstars on Saturday in the third round.
Forward EJ Gyebi scored twice to give the Under-16s side a half-time lead, but his clinical finishing was soon overshadowed by Jake Casey, who scored a spectacular overhead kick.
If the stunning strike wasn’t already enough to earn him the plaudits, the tricky attacker made sure of it by going on to complete his hat-trick to cap a player-of-the-match display.
Full-back Tommy Govey was also on target in the 6-1 victory, firing home from the edge of the area.
CHAPEL Youth were among the sides feeling the frustration on Saturday when all the scheduled action in the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League was washed out.
The Under-9s side have already played fewer games than their championship chasing rivals – so added fixture congestion was the last thing they wanted. On the plus side, however, it gives the club time to find new players in the age group as they look to bolster their squad.
