YOUNGSTERS are reflecting on what has been a magical month of medals, trophies and teamwork.
The Camden Schools Sports Association (CSSA) have been keeping the borough’s boys and girls busy as they continue to supply fun competitions covering a whole range of disciplines.
One of the biggest tournaments of the summer was held at the running track at Parliament Hill Fields where more than 1,250 children from 14 schools took part in the athletics championships.
With support from Sport and Physical Activity NVQs and the Highgate Harriers, over 3,000 individual displays were all timed or measured.
After competing in a series of events from the 60m to the 800m, pupils from Rosary Primary School in Belsize Park took the title for the second year running, edging runners-up Gospel Oak.
Children from Christ Church in Hampstead were also celebrating after winning the Smaller School’s Trophy.
The CSSA also hosted their annual rounders competition recently at Parliament Hill Fields with help from the young sports leaders from La Sainte Union in Highgate.
St Albans School in Holborn won the ‘A’ team competition, with Gospel Oak finishing as runners-up.
St Patrick’s School in Kentish Town were crowned ‘B’ team champions, with Carlton School in Queen’s Crescent finishing as runners-up.
The action-packed month also saw boys’ football teams from New End School in Hampstead and Holy Trinity in Chalk Farm, and girls’ teams from St Patrick’s and Primrose Hill net silverware in the Years 3 and 4 championships at Coram’s Fields.
