This research building will be a blot on King’s Cross

‘The Global Medical Science Research Building will be the first prominent eyesore and must be stopped’
• THE council, city planners (if there are any) and developers, have one chance to ensure that the King’s Cross redevelopment is a world-class example and not a hodgepodge of middling buildings and fast food joints.
The superb refurbishments of the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and St Pancras and King’s Cross stations are justly celebrated and have put Paris’s Gare du Nord to shame.
Central Saint Martins art complex is a triumph and a few hotels and restaurants adjacent to the stations have been tastefully refurbished.
The Global Medical Science Research Building will be the first prominent eyesore and must be stopped. The scientists inside can look out onto St Pancras station but the arriving passengers and drivers stuck at the light confronted with this unrefined, vapid, blight on the complex will not have the same pleasure.
