The loquat tree on the Highgate Road

• I READ with interest John Gulliver’s article on loquat trees in NW5, (Root cause for a celebration, October 20). He describes the link between the trees and the local Greek Cypriot population.

We recently had a tree application to crown reduce a loquat in Dartmouth Park Road (2022/2821/T). The house previously belonged to members of the Georgiou, Greek Cypriot family, who used to run and work in York Rise Continental Stores for many years.

I have watched with interest the loquat tree referred to in the article on the Highgate Road garage site (pictured above) and hope the new residents will look after it.
