Fay Ripley at the site in Dartmouth Park set to be transformed into a 78-bed care home

• WELL done to Fay Ripley for speaking out against the giant care home planned for Dartmouth Park, (Fay Ripley joins campaign again ‘monolith’ care home on bowling club site, March 30).

I am baffled why a Labour-run council is considering this idea since it is the last thing needed in London.

The pandemic just exposed the lethal failings of a care system dominated by wealthy property developers and over-sized institutions in prosperous parts of the country, while this 78-bed monstrosity will only intensify the chronic shortage of carers for those families such as mine reliant on them.

Surely such a prime site should be used to build affordable housing for younger people and key workers?
