Think again on the Prince of Wales Road scheme
Thursday, 21st February 2019
• NICK Harding provides us with worrying information about this so-called one-way cycle lane proposed for Prince of Wales Road to the safety of pedestrians, (Look again at this one-way cycle lane proposal, February 14).
My husband (who is recovering from surgery) and I use the Prince of Wales Road daily for a number of activities, including shopping at Cost Cutter, to-ing and fro-ing to the 393 and 46 bus stops, Talacre Town Green and sports centre, GP surgeries and the Kentish Town West Overground.
Negotiating the crossings at the busy Prince of Wales Road is already difficult, although manageable with the help of refuge islands. Without them, I cannot imagine how anyone over 60 and under 10 would be able to cross the road safely.
So it is hard to understand why Living Streets, who are meant to represent pedestrians, have supported this barmy scheme. Cllr Adam Harrison, you will be personally responsible if you allow this scheme to progress. God forbid anyone is injured or killed from a serious lack of safety at Prince of Wales Road. Please reconsider.
