Think again on 5G roll-out, Camden
Thursday, 14th May 2020
Extracts from an open letter to leader of Camden Council Georgia Gould
• I WRITE to express my concern about Waldon Telecom’s application to install three 5G mast on the roof of Haddo House on Highgate Road, against the wishes of 60 residents.
Why does Camden Council support this application? The residents of Haddo House do not want these masts on the roof of our homes.
Yes, the health concerns worry us and yes there is opposing evidence for both sides, but this ultimately comes down to consent and we, the majority, do not consent to becoming part of a social experiment.
I assume you believe in democracy, in which case the petition signed by the vast majority of Haddo House residents opposing the mast must mean something to you.
In 2015 the council approved plans to allow telecoms companies to install 5G masts on council-owned buildings, including residential blocks. But many residents in Camden have serious concerns about this.
The council have a responsibility to care for and protect its citizens. It’s a privileged position, so please don’t abuse it. You owe it to us to make sound decisions on our behalf.
Please reconsider before you roll out these masts on people’s homes.
