They’ve stopped the weekly emptying of our green waste sacks and won’t respond to requests for information

• BEING the head elderly volunteer gardener at our Camden sheltered housing in Lauriston Lodge, West Hampstead, I am distressed to see that the weekly emptying of our green waste sacks has not been continued under the new contract.

It is four weeks since they came and the white sacks are literally gathering moss. People passing by are dropping in their discarded coffee cups, plastic drinks bottles and miniature bottles of gin etc.

I have repeatedly emailed the council’s green waste department to request that they come to empty them weekly, as before, but am always ignored. I asked a recycling man why this is happening and he told me that the contractors have not got enough staff.
