‘Fantastic football’ on show as talented aces showcase their skills in youth league’s big finals

CUP finals fever gripped Coram’s Fields as talented young footballers from across the capital showcased their skills in the Camden Youth League.

Under-12s League Cup winners FC Marylebone

Onlookers were treated to perfectly-timed tackles, scintillating saves, tremendous teamwork and, of course, glorious goals at the pitches in Guilford Street, Bloomsbury. Among the big winners were Westminster-based sides The Vale and FC Marylebone.

Under-11s League Cup runners-up Priory Park

The Vale edged Bloomsbury Football 3-2 in a five-goal thriller to win the Under-9s League Cup, while the winning margin wasn’t quite as nail-biting in the Under-12s competition where FC Marylebone beat Bloomsbury Football 4-0.

The closest fought final of the day saw Camden Elite overcome Priory Park 5-4 on penalties to win the Under-11s League Cup. And the biggest winners were London Futsal Stars, who put on a clinical display in front of goal as they ran out 5-0 victors against PFA in the Under-10s final.

Under-9s League Cup winners The Vale

In the Camden Youth League Development Cup, the PFA players celebrated a delightful double after beating European Football Academy 3-0 to win the Under-9s age group, and TGFC 3-2 on penalties to capture the Under-11s silverware.

Meanwhile, Bloomsbury Football toppled Gladstone Park Rangers 4-0 to scoop the Under-10s prize.

League manager Abul Koyar said: “There was a really good atmosphere. All the cup finals were played in the right nature with teams displaying great sportsman­ship throughout the day.

“The standard on show was extremely high, all the players worked really hard and played some fantastic football.”
