They won’t empty our bins

Thursday, 7th April 2022

• WHEN recycling bins were first introduced residents were instructed by Camden Council to keep them off the pavements and, luckily, three flats in this Victorian conversion enjoyed space to comply with their directive.

Since then rules keep changing. Exasperated that twice inside a month our food caddies had not been emptied, a form was completed on Camden’s website. Quickly, a photograph of the bins was requested and sent.

Back came an email from Veolia: “The crew will not have collected these as they are not clearly visible from the road nor within 1 metre of the entrance to the property.”

I responded: “Since recycling bins were introduced, the three flats in this house have responded to what was requested. Our food bins are always left in the same place and been emptied – until twice recently. Was information circulated that changed this? Can we have a copy?”

Veolia: “The presentation policy for presenting waste is on the Camden Council website”.

The Veolia customer centre on Camden’s website said: “We are currently experiencing recycling and waste collection delays. If your recycling or rubbish has been missed, please leave it out for collection – we will attempt to collect it as soon as possible…”

And below this: “To look up the services for your property, enter the postcode or street name.”

I entered my postcode repeatedly but nothing happened. I am still unclear where the caddies should be left.

So frustrating!
