They should listen to us on this bad planned heating scheme

• CAMDEN’S heating engineers can’t seem to get their numbers straight: in 2021, they estimated the cost of the Alexandra Road estate’s unwanted new heating system at £9.2million.

But in just two-and-a-half more years, costs ballooned by over £5million. Now, their latest planning application suggests a budget range of £2million to a whopping £100million. Talk about a wide margin for error!

And there is one major cost item they have not considered at all: the social cost of temporarily rehousing residents during the upheaval (we calculate that a month will be required) and the heavy toll on vulnerable families, the elderly, and the infirm.

These are the kind of people we’re dealing with. They don’t care about people. There is nothing about this in their calculations. They just try to manipulate us and call it “community consultation”.

Alas they are the only source of information available to the elected councillors, who trust them to do a professional job. People who can’t even calculate how many millions Camden would be spending.

And all this for a diabolically poor, retrograde, design for a new heating system that has aroused the indignation of leading figures in the architectural community because of the harm it would cause to our Grade II* listed estate.

As the owner, Camden has a statutory duty to look after it; but they’re not. This may well have legal consequences.

We want the councillors to listen to our side of the story. It’s a much better one and technically more credible!
