These proposed homes would not replace the lost greenery of this conservation area site
Thursday, 16th May 2019
• I HAVE read your Property article of May 9 regarding a proposal to build two new houses in the back gardens of 29-33 Arkwright Road, (Backyard build upsets the neighbours, May 9).
I would like to correct three factual errors so that your public has a more accurate view on the proposals.
1. The proposals are not for one- and two-bed houses, but for large two-and three-bed houses.
2. The two nearby houses are not recent; 25E was completed in 1993 on derelict land; 25B was a rebuild in 2013 of a post-war house to much the same size and footprint as the one it replaced.
3. The proposed new flat roofs, which are looked down on by many of the neighbouring properties, are mostly covered with solar panels and are therefore not green and would not replace the lost greenery of this conservation area site.
