There’s more bad news to report in the Gospel Oak area

• YET more devastation visited on Gospel Oak…
A CNJ report of St Martin’s vicar moving on, soon after the forced retirement of a colleague.
Coming soon is the closure of the nearby recycling centre at Regis Road.
Our drain covers, reported stolen in the same issue, are not made safe for a week.
These join the list of… closure of two schools, two nurseries, three community centres, blocking off our main north-south road, ruining our market – previously run by local people – and a reduction in numbers of council-rent flats.
The “regeneration” of West Kentish Town Estate is continually delayed, with now an estimated completion date of 2043.
Many council flats are in dire need of repair to remove damp, mould and mushrooms.
Many council flats do not meet legally-required fire safety standards.
The Bacton Low Rise phase-two regeneration which should have been completed in 2017 has not even started.
Hundreds of thousands of pounds have been spent on consultants drawing up a “vision” for the area. This “mirage” remains on the drawing board, despite promises to start on Queen’s Crescent early this year.
Requests to senior managers to visit us and see for themselves their chaos are refused.
What have residents and businesses done to merit this collective punishment?
Perhaps our six Labour councillors could explain, even their visiting the crescent, occasionally.
Perhaps Cllr Danny Beales, the Camden cabinet member with overall responsibility for our misery, could come and meet us.
The present practice is to put junior officers in the front line to take the flak on their market stall on Thursdays.
