There is potential for huge amounts of waste reduction with this new scheme

Thursday, 6th April 2017

• YOUR report on a residents’ meeting about Camden Council’s new refuse collection arrangements doesn’t mention that Camden is merely joining the 86 per cent of the country that manage perfectly well with non-recyclable rubbish collected twice monthly (Rubbish collections will hit the vulnerable and trigger law breaking, March 30).

There will be some small behavioural changes required on the part of residents. However, the elderly and disabled are offered assisted collections.

The Con/LibDems administration last reviewed the contract and service in 2009/2010 and it was just rolled over with no incentivisation on recycling.

There are many residents who are very happy to see savings going into other services and potential for huge amounts of waste reduction.
