There is much discontent with housing associations in the borough
Thursday, 11th November 2021
• SADLY the range of negative feelings being expressed by the tenants of Tagore House in Belsize Park towards their landlord, is an all too common occurrence when dealing with the housing associations (HAs) operating in the borough.
Given that around 11 per cent of Camden households live under this type of landlord, means that discontentment with where they live, the quality of the services they receive and how their landlord treats them is an issue for a considerable part of the borough’s residents.
In response to a recommendation made by Camden Council’s housing scrutiny committee and growing concerns that many people felt their landlords were unaccountable and weren’t listening and responding to their needs, we set up the Camden Housing Association Residents Group in 2016, and it has been meeting quarterly ever since.
We also regularly meet senior managers at Origin Housing, and have just started doing the same with the largest HA operating in Camden, One Housing Group, to begin addressing a wide variety of issues that their residents are not happy with.
We would therefore like to invite the Tagore House tenants to get in touch with us either by phone: 020 7383 0151 or email: admin@cfpt.org.uk to see if we can work together and get Clarion Housing to take notice and actually start dealing with what is going on in the block.
We would also invite any other housing association residents living in Camden to do the same, if you would like to go on the mailing list to receive an invite to future meetings and activities of the group, or to find out how we might be able to help you with your housing association.
