There can be no excuse for this neglect in keeping streets clean
Thursday, 15th August 2019
• ON August 6 a cyclist cleaned out a bike hanger in Arlington Road and dumped a pile of leaves on the pavement where it remains to date. By August 11, waste paper had gone but the leaves remained.
Ten years ago there were three times the number of road sweepers in use but because of reduced council funding for the Veolia contract we are left with one road sweeper who cannot provide a daily service as he has to cover a wider area, including emptying of bins on the main road.
So as far as I can tell, there can be no excuse for this wilful neglect.
