There are real issues our paid councillors should be addressing

• AS a member of the Camden Labour Party for over four decades, I was totally confused by Peeps, (Uncivil war erupts in Labour ranks, August 16).

Leaving aside what the war is about and who are the protagonists, surely there are many local issues councillors should be concerned about: the Community Investment Programme which appears to be in severe financial trouble; or £140million having now to be spent on botched refurbishment; or that Camden was rated one of the worst social landlords (according to government) in England; or the problems of the new waste contract?

Surely these are issues on which our paid councillors should be concentrating. I thought we elected them to work for the benefit of residents at a time of government cuts.

I find it ironic that rank and file members of the party and the public are not given any information and all we know is from the gnomic article in the New Journal. One has in mind Nero and a fiddle. Or arranging deckchairs on the Titanic.
