The virus crisis calls Camden’s investment programme into question
Friday, 29th May 2020
• THE coronavirus crisis should make us reconsider Camden Council’s Community Investment Programme.
The CIP results in dense, high-rise, living and builds on valuable open space. It is not compatible with living with a pandemic.
As the lockdown shows, we need the breathing space, open space and access to outdoors. This will need to be considered when planning future development. Putting hundreds of people in densely stacked shoe-boxes is not the right solution.
We also need to keep our open spaces and mature trees because of the climate crisis. Too many of Camden’s schemes result in the decimation of the natural environment.
