The Tories’ campaign is disappointingly negative

Thursday, 4th May 2017

• IN response to your report (Tories focus on Corbyn as election rivals face off… April 24), I can only say I am disappointed by the Conservatives’ decision to run a negative campaign.

Maybe they have done so because Brexit is quite clearly on the ballot in June and because they are up against a dependable pro-European voice in Tulip Siddiq?

Thousands of local Europeans have no certainty over their future residential rights, and the thousands of locals working in financial services have no guarantees over the vital matter of passporting rights.

From her opening remarks I find it impossible to believe that Claire-Louise Leyland will stand up to Theresa May should any further votes on the Brexit process take place.

Given Tulip Siddiq resigned as a shadow minister due to her pro-European principles, I can only hope people put their faith in her again to secure the strongest possible “Remain” voice for our local area.
