The system of bike hangar allocation is unfair
Friday, 20th November 2020
• I WROTE before about the problem of bike hangars on Haverstock Hill. There are still no available hangars in the vicinity.
Hangar places are not allocated equitably. People who want a hangar place must join the waiting list for each individual nearby hangar.
There is no shared list for a particular area. This also means that when a new hangar is installed, those who are on local lists are not contacted.
People who do get a place for their bicycle in a new hangar may have never tried to get a place before. They were just lucky in happening to get on the website at the right time.
A new hangar was recently planned for Belsize Avenue, but none of those on local waiting lists were proactively informed. This is an unfair system.
