The swimmers have acted in good faith
Friday, 10th April 2020

• WITH polite, honest and objective intelligence, Nicky Mayhew factually addresses the ponds problem, (Heath ponds swimmers are fed up with being demonised, April 2).
A problem that is wholly the creation of the city corporation and not the swimmers, who have acted positively, in good faith, to assist the corporation to recover costs while still observing the spirit and the letter of the 1871 Hampstead Heath Act, which the corporation has shockingly evaded.
With regard to myself, I wear the curious accusation of being a “thorn in the flesh” of the corporation with civic pride, (The Heath, the City and its budget, March 28).
Its conduct and actions, must be subject to public scrutiny and analysis. Good governance, comes from good questions and honest conclusions.
And the questions and ensuing analysis are set to continue unless the City reviews what has occurred in it name.
