• FURTHER to Louisa Green’s letter, (Mrs Newbie and Wallace, August 20), I still think the swan deserves a proper name (like “Winifred”).

“Mrs Newbie” is the same type of name as “The Widow”. In any case she is not the newbie in her present situation. Wallace is.
