The scale of the CIP investment is so important

Thursday, 24th March 2022

• YOUR report on Camden’s CIP does not recognise the scale and impact of this investment into communities and people’s lives, (Left and right – and the rest – join in a rare alliance to hammer Camden’s estates strategy, March 21).

A £165million investment in schools and 500 new council homes over a 10-year period, set against a backdrop of a two-thirds reduction in government funding, is an astonishing piece of good news.

Of course, we need more affordable, social housing for residents, which the programme provides for, but this should not be at the expense of future investment in our schools and community facilities.

As a governor of three primary schools over the past decade I’ve seen first-hand the impact investment has had on children’s futures and aspirations.

The report referenced fails to recognise this. Don’t take this lifeline investment away from families.
