• VISITING Chase Farm Hospital, which is being rebuilt at last, I learnt the Royal Free is moving all elective surgery there.

Chase Farm is in north Enfield. To get to it from Belsize Park involves: Northern line to King’s Cross, Piccadilly line to Oakwood, 307 bus to the Ridgeway, 313 bus to the hospital, which takes a little over an hour, provided you don’t have to wait too long for the bus connections.

It is about 14 miles away. It would be nice if the hospital arranged a shuttle bus from Oakwood station, or a zebra crossing to help to cross the busy road that passes the main entrance to Chase Farm. But I would not put money on it.
