The police are failing us on the hill

‘Honest Londoners get no service from the Metropolitan Police Service’

• THERE is a serious night-time problem on Primrose Hill, but building four gates, arranging staff to open and shut them daily and regularly repairing a mile of hedges which will be broken through, is the lunacy of bureaucrats spending other people’s money.

The problem and the answer is the police. There are plenty of them but the mayor does not hold them to account.

Honest Londoners get no service from the Metropolitan Police Service.

Internet fraud is fobbed off with a sugary help-line, burglaries and car theft are no longer investigated and cars reported stolen are left abandoned to be stolen again or vandalised.

Not policing the hill is another MPS failing. Yet when a serious media-covered incident occurs police instantly pour out of their mess rooms by the hundreds.

Police are needed on the hill to arrest the profiteers. A child can spot the dealers and loud-speaker DJs.

As a recently retired Justice of the Peace I know London courts are waiting to convict if given proper, fairly-collected, evidence.

It is no good the MPS media office saying there were 200 arrests “last night”. We just want the handful of ringleaders convicted.

Then Londoners can go peacefully to the hill to marvel at the lights and stars as they have done without hindrance for 200 years.
