The planned HS2 road closure shows HS2’s contempt for ordinary people

Thursday, 14th March 2019

• THE impending closure of Eversholt Street (from May to December this year) is yet another example of HS2’s sheer contempt for, and indifference to, the working class residents of Somers Town.

This avaricious, opaque, corporate “behemoth” is pressing ahead with this vanity project regardless of the ongoing disruption and dislocation to residents’ lives and wellbeing.

Moreover, they are going ahead without any forethought and forward planning to mitigate this horrendous impact on their lives (for example, providing an alternative means of convenient, public transport in order to enable – particularly elderly and disabled – residents to commute to Camden Town for their weekly shopping etc).

Furthermore, surely it is incumbent on both Camden Council and Transport for London to intervene in this vital area of public policy and to seek a satisfactory resolution and outcome acceptable to the residents.
