The people must have the final say on Brexit
Thursday, 19th April 2018
• THE launch in Camden last week of the new national People’s Vote campaign to demand that the public have the final say on the terms of the deal of the UK’s departure from the European Union should be a wake-up call for our MP Sir Keir Starmer.
Just as there was a public referendum on whether Britain should leave the EU, so there should be a vote on the final terms of the deal with an option to either accept it, or say no and stay in the EU.
Many MPs from Labour and from other parties have come out publicly saying that they back the call for a public vote. So far Sir Keir has remained silent.
Camden voted three-to-one to remain in the EU. Sir Keir should listen to his constituents and ensure that Labour joins the cross-party campaign to call on the government to give the final say on the Brexit to the electorate.
