The parking charges will mean I shall have to give up my car
Thursday, 14th March 2019
• I PROTEST strongly against the massive hike in residents’ parking charges that are being imposed by Camden Council.
I am a pensioner and suffer from COPD, chronic disruptive pulmonary disease. I am unable to walk more than 10 minutes or to carry shopping etc over more than a short distance.
My annual parking charge will be raised from £171 to £291. Being forced to give up my car will be especially difficult for me and others in similar situations.
Residents’ parking was originally introduced to prevent commuters and businesses like second-hand car dealers from taking over parking space in residential streets.
Camden have now turned it into a tool to raise revenue and a weapon against car owners.
These swingeing increases are being exacted without any public consultation or discussion, as far as I am aware, and are due to come into force in April.
