The new traffic schemes are disastrous
Thursday, 22nd October 2020
• I AM a committed cyclist and use my bike regularly to travel through central London and some of the outlying boroughs.
In addition to cycling I use my car, when required, for shopping, transporting goods and family. I find the new traffic schemes in Camden disastrous and counterproductive.
They do not aid the cyclist, create gridlock and make drivers, taxis, and delivery vehicles antagonist towards cyclists. I have observed that many of the newly created cycle lanes empty or sparsely used.
There seems to be no process for consultation with cyclists and motorists. Regular consultations should be instituted immediately. Cllr Adam Harrison must be answerable to both motorists and cyclists as well as pedestrians.
The present system seem haphazard and unproductive. We all want better air quality, better environment and less gridlock.
There should be an immediate review of recently introduced traffic changes. For those of you who agree the system is not working properly a consultation with Camden Council is urgently required.
