‘Part of the Tottenham Court Road street ‘enhancement”

• SHORTLY after reading your timely front page stricture: Don’t look up! (CNJ, November 23), I encountered this concoction on Capper Street – pictured above – neither of use nor ornament, part of the Tottenham Court Road street “enhancement”.

Bloomin’ heck: seems now in Camden we can’t look down either.

But north of the Euston Road councillors resent residents of WC1, assuming they are dodgy non-doms. Distressingly they are increasingly on the money!

Our first Camden home on Gilbert Place was in the heart of the courageous community which successfully resisted the destruction of the diverse residential cluster around Museum Street.

It was a real privilege and they taught us a lot about guerilla warfare then waged against institutions and other developers.

Now it’s against the local council, which once had such a progressive heritage reputation, under Frank Dobson’s enlightened leadership.

Now it has clearly mislaid its moral compass.
